The School Band

The Ho Sau Ki School Band was established in 1995, and is committed to provide a platform for children to learn music, have performances and contribute to the society. We hope to use music to make the society more harmonious. In the 2016-17 Inter-School Music Festival, the orchestra achieved very satisfactory results. Among them, some students won the championship in the junior group of Saxophone Competition and won the Tom Lee Cup. In the Hong Kong Arts Festival, our School Band won the 2nd runner-up. At the beginning of the semester, the School Band performed with the Hong Kong Youth Windophilics and 8 well-known primary schools in Hong Kong for the first time on the same stage, and the performance was very successful.

In May 2016, the School Band recommended 8 students to take the British Royal Academy of Music Exam, and all 8 members passed the grade 4 instrumental qualification, and some of them achieved excellent Merit results.

The School Band won the Gold Award in the Primary School Category of School Band in the International Joint School Music Competition on 19th July,2017, and was invited to represent Hong Kong to go to Okinawa, Japan on 28th December, 2017 to have music exchange with students from local and different countries.

Different organisations invited our school band and highly appreciated their performances. Through these public performances the students were able to cultivate a spirit of contributing to the society. What is more, the students’ confidence grew with each public performance, enhancing their attainment of musical skills and their motivation to work toward becoming musicians in the future.
